Navigation

The Home Page

When logging in to LMI, the initial page that is displayed in the Home Page. The Home Page is designed to be the navigation hub of LMI. All standard Storyboards as well as all help articles are accessible from the Home Page. The page is arranged in horizontal sections that highlight various areas of focus. The charts on the Home Page are accurate and dynamic but are mostly intended for illustrative purposes. Use the hyperlinks in the left area of the sections to navigate to the Storyboards that contain deeper content.

Drillthrough

Clicking on chart bars/lines, pie slices, or table numbers will launch drillthrough. Drillthrough is person or job level data, meaning in most cases one row per person (supply data) or job (demand data). The following are exceptions to there being one row per person:

  • A person can list more than one position at any point in time. Our supply metrics use a distinct count of person_id, meaning each person is only counted once in aggregates. When drilling to detail however, it's possible that the person will have more than one row.

  • Sometimes a company will post multiple jobs with the same title in the same location. In those situations, there can be a count > 1 in a single line in drillthrough.

Top Navigation Menu

While it's seldom necessary to utilize the top navigation menu in LMI, it's useful to understand what each of the options provides.

  • Explore is the query tool in One Model. Explore is used to create tables and charts for Storyboards. Learn more about Explore here.

  • Storyboards provides a categorized and searchable menu from which Storyboards can be accessed, copied, shared, or deleted.

  • Exports provides an accessible list of all tables recently exported from within LMI

  • Help opens a searchable menu of help docs for LMI and the entire One Model suite.

The Data

About the data

The data in LMI consists of labor market supply (public professional profiles) and demand (job postings). Both of these data sets are augmented with salary data. For the supply data, position history is available going back in time as far as people report their history. On the demand side, job postings are captured back to the beginning of 2019. The supply data is modeled much like the data from an HRIS system would be for analytic purposes. Powerful metrics like headcount, movements, turnover, and tenure have been created from this data.

Both data sets are aligned on the following dimensions (attributes):

  • City/Metro Area

  • Company

  • Company Size

  • Country

  • Industry

  • Job Function

  • Job Title

  • Job Title Keywords

  • Salary Range

  • Skills/Tags

  • State/Region

The following are supply-only dimensions:

  • Career Tenure

  • Company Tenure

  • Education Level

  • Is Intern

  • Is Retiree

  • Is Student

  • Position Tenure

The following are demand-only dimensions:

  • Days to Close

  • Is Remote Role

Frequency of data updates

The supply (workforce) data is updated monthly on the 15th of the month, for data through the end of the previous month.

The demand (job postings) data is updated weekly on Wednesday, for data through the end of the previous week.

Frequency of functionality updates

LMI tries to follow the same release schedule as the core One Model product. That said, it's not always practical to do so. Updates to functionality are generally shared through Intercom.

More about salary

Salary data is displayed in local currency. Exchange rates are updated monthly when the supply data is refreshed.

Filters Overview

Every time you use LMI, you are going to want to be applying filters to the Storyboards.

At the top of each Storyboard is a filter bar. The most common dimensions you'll filter by are Job Title Keywords (Role), Location, and Company.

Hovering over a dimension in the filter bar provides you with some options. Select the magnifying glass icon to search the entire dimension or the down arrow to navigate the values manually. Multiple values can be selected. Double selecting a value excludes it. Filters need to be applied before the Storyboard is updated, but do not apply filters before all tiles on the Storyboard have been loaded.

Filters can be saved and can also be set as default, so they follow you as you navigate around LMI.
