Storyboard Notifications Guide

Storyboard Notifications is a new feature that helps you stay on top of your data and periodically send links to key Storyboards to your inbox. This is a great way to surface specific Storyboards with different business and HR lifecycle events throughout the year, e.g. Compensation Reviews, Performance Cycle checkins, Talent/Succession Reviews.

You can now set up schedules (daily, weekly, or monthly) to receive email notifications with a direct link to your Storyboard. Whether you're tracking HR metrics, operational KPIs, or other key business trends, this is a simple way to stay informed and quickly access the latest insights when it matters most.

Permissions

To create Storyboard Notifications, the user must have the application access permission:
CanConfigureDataStoriesNotifications

Once this permission is granted, users can set up Storyboard Notifications for themselves.

⚠️ There is a known issue when using the “Proxy as User” option from the account menu to configure notifications. Please do not use this option to configure notifications during the beta period as it may result in incorrect notification setup.  This is currently under investigation.

How to Set Up a Storyboard Notification

  1. Go to the Account Menu (top right corner)

  2. Click Preferences

  1. Scroll to the Notifications section

  2. Select the Storyboard Notifications tab

If you haven’t set any up yet, you’ll see this message:
“You don't have any configured data notifications.”

Add a Notification

  1. Click Add Notification

  2. A Storyboard Notification Settings popover window will appear.

Step by Step Configuration

Storyboard

Select the Storyboard you want to schedule from the dropdown. You will only see Storyboards that you have permission to view or edit.

Time Schedule

Choose how often you want the storyboard sent:

  • Repeat Every:

    • Day

      • Select the Time (hour and minute) using the click up/down selectors

    • Week

      • Choose the Day of the Week (Sunday–Saturday)

      • Select the Time

    • Month

      • Select the Date:

        • First Day, Last Day, or 2nd to 29th

      • Select the Time

The system will display a plain text summary, e.g.:

"Every Month on Last Day of Month at Time 09:00 by Email."

Time Zone

Select your preferred time zone. This ensures your notifications are delivered at the time you intend, regardless of your location.

Notification Email Subject

Type the subject line that will appear in your email inbox.

Notification Email Content

Enter the body content of the email message.

Click Add to save, or Cancel to exit without saving.

Managing your Notifications

Once added, your notification will appear as a row in the Storyboard Notifications table.

Columns include:

  • Storyboard Name

  • Condition Overview (your schedule and delivery method)

  • On/Off (On by Default)
    • Toggle Off to pause a notification without deleting it.

  • Actions (Edit  / Delete)
    • Click Edit (pencil icon) to update the Time Schedule, Subject, or Content.
    • Click Delete (bin icon) to remove the notification.

If you try to exit without saving, you’ll see a popup: “Discard Unsaved Changes? You have unsaved notification changes. Click Continue to discard and navigate away or Cancel to continue editing.”

Note on Email Delivery - Each storyboard notification configured will send a separate email when triggered.  For example, if you have three storyboard notifications scheduled for Monday at 9:00 a.m., you will receive three individual emails, one for each notification.  The system does not currently support batching of multiple notifications into a single email.

Notifications from the Storyboard Library

When a storyboard has notifications enabled:

  • A bell icon will appear next to the Storyboard name

  • From the Action Dots (⋯):

    • A Notifications tab will be visible

    • It shows the Condition Overview

    • Includes a link to manage notifications (navigates to Preferences page)

The same applies when accessing from:

  • The storyboard’s Settings panel via the action dots

What the Notifications Email Looks Like

When the scheduled time arrives, you’ll receive an email with:

  • Subject: [Your custom email subject]

  • Header:
