One AI Assistant Answers

Unlock guided answers to key questions with Answers in One AI Assistant. This feature supports users by providing verified answers to common questions, helping them find relevant content faster. Site administrators curate questions, organize them by topic, and link each to relevant visuals on Storyboards—ensuring users are guided to accurate, approved content.

Answers is great for users who want to self-serve information without building or validating their own charts. Users can browse questions by topic or type a natural language question to be matched to the closest configured answer. Permissions can be granted for just Answers or combined with other capabilities in One AI Assistant, such as Visualizations and Storyboard Navigation.

Key Benefits

Lower the barrier to data exploration: Empowers users to access trusted, curated information without needing technical knowledge of creating visuals and checking for accuracy. This interconnectedness fosters a more holistic understanding of topics and encourages deeper engagement with the available information.

Admin-controlled accuracy: Ensures responses are based on vetted Storyboard visuals, so users are guided to approved and reliable content.

Natural and intuitive experience: Users can explore by browsing topics, following related questions, or asking their own—in plain language. This leads users through curated pathways of information and fosters a more intuitive content consumption experience within One Model.

How it Works

Answers is powered by a curated knowledge base configured and maintained by site administrators. Here’s how the feature works:

  1. Site administrators configure topics, questions and Storyboard tiles Admins define key questions, organize them into topics, and tie them to Storyboard tiles. These configured questions can even be added to the list of example prompts displayed in the One AI Assistant dropdown.

  2. Users ask questions in plain language Users can browse all questions in a topic or type in a natural language question to be matched to the closest configured option. They can also ask, “What questions can you answer?” to see all available questions they have permission to access, or “What questions can you answer about [topic]?” to filter by a specific subject area.

  3. Everything is linked together Each question is connected to a relevant chart or tile on a storyboard, along with a direct link to the specific storyboard page where the visualization lives. This facilitates navigation to deeper content about a question or topic. Additionally, all additional questions categorized under the same topic as the question displayed are listed under the visualization. Selecting a different question displays it as a new result under the existing result in One AI Assistant.

  4. Answers are delivered in a complete package When a question is selected or matched, the Assistant presents four key components:
    • A natural language response answering the question (if permissioned)
    • A data visualization from a Storyboard (e.g., bar chart, list, scatterplot, etc.)
    • A direct link to the related storyboard page for more information around the visualization and topic
    • A list of related questions users can explore next with a simple click

Currently, filters applied at the Storyboard level do not carry through to the visual returned in the Answers feature. To ensure the correct data is shown, filters must be applied directly at the tile level.

For example, if your storyboard includes a filter for Employee Type = Regular, but that filter is only applied at the storyboard level and not on the specific tile tied to an Answer, the filter will not be reflected in the visual shown.

We are actively working on an enhancement that will allow storyboard-level filters to automatically apply to visuals returned by Answers.

Permissioning One AI Assistant Answers

Controlling Access to Answers

User access to Answers requires the following:

  1. One AI Assistant must be enabled for your company. See Permissioning One AI Assistant for further details.
  2. Users must have permission to use Answers.  This is controlled by the Application Access Role permission CanAccessOneAIAssistantAnswers. Granting this to a user group allows members to interact with Answers and view related example prompts.
  3. Natural language responses can be enabled or disabled separately. This is controlled by a separate Application Access Role permission—CanAccessOneAIAssistantAnswersNLResponse. This permission controls whether users receive the short generative AI-powered natural language response that accompanies each answer. All other functionality (charts, links, related questions) is still available without this permission.
