Welcome to the latest One Model product release update. This article provides an overview of the product innovations and improvements to be delivered on 06 August 2025.
SQL Explorer
- Hey One Model power users, we have a present for you! Sure the lovely One Model UI is great for the average person walking around, but you want to flex your SQL muscles and write queries in code... it's how you think, it's fast... welcome to the SQL Explorer.
- SQL Explorer gives technical users the freedom to write and run read-only SQL queries directly within One Model. You get visibility into your data without leaving the platform..
- Whether you're validating data pipelines, investigating issues, or just exploring your data, SQL Explorer makes it faster, easier, and safer to do it yourself. This isn’t just for power users. It’s a practical tool for analysts, admins, and anyone who needs to understand what’s really going on under the hood.
- SQL Explorer is now being rolled out as a general BETA release. You can shortly enable it via Application Access Role permissions - it is called “CanViewSQLExplorer”. Check out our user guide for more information:
One AI
- A button was added to One AI Assistant that allows you to copy the previous prompt into the current prompt input control. The intent is to make iteration in the assistant easier. This button replaces the clear (X) button. (ref 3983)
- We enhanced One AI Assistant Answers to respect any filters that are applied to the Storyboard from which the tile is referenced. If filters are saved on the Storyboard, they will carry over to the assistant. (ref 3954)
- To expand the information available for One AI Assistant usage, we added a bunch more usage statistics events in addition to the AssistantPrompted event. The prompt text is available for all of these events if it has been exposed in your data model. The new events are as follows and can be used in your Usage Statistics Storyboards (refs 3899, 3958):
- AssistantExampleSelected
- AssistantResultVisualization
- AssistantResultStoryboard
- AssistantResultAnswersList
- AssistantResultAnswers
- AssistantInsightsGenerated
- The One AI Assistant input control in the page header of One Model no longer automatically gets focus. This prevents unintentionally typing into the assistant after navigating to certain pages in One Model. (ref 3979)
- We added the "Export" option to drill through in One AI Assistant. As with Storyboards, the option is only visible for users that have the CanExportCSV permission assigned. (ref 3943)
Minor Improvements & Bugs Squashed
- We've made several minor improvements to Waterfall Charts to enhance their usability and data presentation:
- We have included the ability to drag and drop metrics and dimensions between zones in the Waterfall Chart's Define panel. This makes it much easier to build and refine your charts and brings the Waterfall Chart's usability in line with other visualizations. (ref 24444)
- We've added more control over your data labels to help you declutter visuals, especially when space is limited. Using the new "Show Data Labels for Summary Bars Only" option, you can now hide increase/decrease labels while keeping start/end values visible. Additionally, with the "Show Stacked Totals" option, you can display cumulative totals directly on bars with breakdowns (ref 24413).
- Data labels and tooltips for the "Total" and "Running Total" bars now apply standard formatting. This means currency symbols will appear when all underlying series are in the same currency, and decimal places will be consistent based on your chart's first metric. (ref 24732)
- Users can no longer accidentally delete metrics actively used as an "End Metric." This is consistent with our suite-wide efforts to ensure data integrity, and provides a warning in the Build / Edit Metric page when you try to delete a metric used in a storyboard or insight library (ref 24919).
- Storyboard Errors in Site Validation for Unshared Storyboards can be difficult to fix unless the end user knows which One Model user they can proxy as to fix them. We’ve enhanced the Site Validation export so it now states a user who can access the storyboard, if the Exporting User doesn’t have access to it. (ref 23720)
- We fixed a small bug with the Storyboard Notifications ‘Save’ button color mapping which was making the text hard to read in some instances as shown below. (ref 24677)
- We have resolved an issue that prevented some selected dimension nodes from appearing in subtotals on your Storyboard List Tables. You'll now see all expected subtotals, providing accurate breakdowns. (ref 24795)
- We have resolved an issue affecting SFTP user management on the Data -> Sources page. Previously, when attempting to reset or delete SFTP user passwords, a confirmation window would appear behind the pop up window, preventing changes from being saved or users from being deleted. This fix addresses the underlying cause of the display issue, allowing for seamless password resets and user deletions for SFTP accounts. You can now reliably manage your SFTP users without encountering the unresponsive page behavior.
- We resolved an issue with Storyboards sometimes not loading when navigating to them from One AI Assistant. This issue was dependent on which underlying page was open behind the assistant (Explore for example). (ref 3996)

Does the SQL Explorer honor application security rules or is it intended for those with full access to employee data? Searched around the article but couldn't find the answer for sure. Thanks!
Thanks for your question, It is intended for those who have full access to the employee data, and we have added details about this in the SQL Explorer article.
