Introduction to Multi-Page Storyboards

Multi-Page Storyboards are the next step in the evolution of Storyboards in your One Model instance intended to help you design and share insights with your users and teams.

Multi-Page Storyboards add pages with a page bar at the bottom of each Storyboard. Use the page bar to rename each page, add pages, copy entire pages, move them forward or back, or delete what you no longer need.

Each page is essentially another Storyboard, except in this case the filter bar at the top of the page applies across all pages, so you don’t need to reapply filters as you jump between pages.

Break up large Storyboards into smaller, more digestible pieces, and use pages to create narratives with your data tailored to specific audiences. This may have the added benefit of helping improve the overall loading speed and performance of your Storyboards.

  • Replace Storyboard Contents

This new versioning feature for Storyboards was released 2023.02.08. It allows Admins or Storyboard designers to make content changes seamlessly without disruption to end users who have linked or bookmarked Storyboard URLs.

The new method for replacing storyboard content supports both the standard Storyboards and Multipage Storyboards. If the user has ‘StoryboardAdministrator’ permission then a tab labelled Replace will appear under the Storyboard Settings panel. The behavior will be the same as the existing Storyboard content replacement except the user will not get a preview of the newly imported content. A confirmation dialog will appear to confirm changes.

  • Site Validation

We have introduced Site Validation for Storyboards. This can be found under the Admin tab by Admins and users with the permission ‘CanViewSiteValidation’.  Examples of some of the messages Admins and users with permission might see include:

    • The [x] Tile on page [x] of the [x] Storyboard is invalid: dimension [x] does not exist
    • The [x] Tile on page [x] of the [x] Storyboard is invalid: refers node(s) from dimension [x] that do not exist
    • The [x] Tile on page [x] of the [x] Storyboard is invalid: dimension [x] does not exist. You don’t have access to this storyboard, but can proxy as [xxx@xxx.co] to see it
  • Usage Statistics

Admins can create reporting for usage statistics across each Storyboard, page and tiles. Please speak with your Customer Success Lead about whether this feature is suitable for your company instance.
